Committees and Executive Board
Below are the ELMS PTA committees that are always looking for volunteers.
Membership - Support annual membership drive and promote the benefits of the PTA.
PTACHC (PTA Council of Howard County) - attend monthly PTACHC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
GTAC (Gifted & Talented Advisory Committee) - attend GTAC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
SECAC (Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee) - attend SECAC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
EES Liaison - be the point of contact and coordinate ELMS support requested for the EES annual Fall Festival and Holiday Shop.
Fundraising - brainstorm and coordinate fundraising efforts - open to ideas!
Restaurant Nights - schedule and coordinate monthly restaurant night outings.
Hospitality - coordinate refreshments/meals for parent-teacher conferences in November
Staff Appreciation Week - coordinate snacks/appreciation throughout Staff Appreciation Week in May.
Monthly Staff Appreciation - work with administrators to provide appreciation treats to staff.
School Musical - coordinate with the theater department on (2) school musicals.
Social Dances - plan and execute student dances.
Social Events - plan and execute social activities for students after school or evening. Ideas include games, movie, sports, etc.
8th-grade events - work with 8th-grade team on planned 8th-grade events (example: end of year dance, t-shirts, etc.)
Spirit wear - coordinate selection and sale of ELMS apparel.
Scholarship - share scholarship forms with local high schools, promote, gather input, form a committee to review and award a graduating HCPSS 12th-grade student.
Executive Board positions and descriptions:
President:
Overall leader of the PTA, responsible for presiding over meetings, representing the organization publicly, and coordinating board activities.Vice President:
Assists the President, often with specific areas of focus like programs, membership, or fundraising.Treasurer:
Manages the PTA finances, including collecting dues, maintaining accurate records, and preparing financial reports.Recording Secretary:
Takes minutes at PTA meetings, maintains official records, and distributes meeting summaries.
